Wow! I cannot believe that my daughter is already starting school. It has about nine years since I went back to school. But I remember it fondly and am super excited to be sending her to school.

For me back to school, time is all about starting anew and getting a fresh start even more than spring and new years. My love is related to getting to shop for back to school clothes, school supplies, and toiletries. Walgreen’s has been a go-to place to stock up supplies and toiletries for school. This year I found tons of goodies for young women starting school this year putting together a Back to School Survival Guide. Walgreens had everything I needed to build a foundation for a Back to School Survival Guide for a young women going back to school this year. I found Grab U by Kotex CleanWear® by U, Bic Razors, and Eos lip balm and got extra points towards Walgreens Rewards for buying over $15 worth of the products. You buy $15 of participating U by Kotex / EOS / BIC products and get 3,000 Balance Reward Points!!!

I’ve been thinking about making an apple keychain from the Eos lip gloss since I bought my first red one. I wanted to make it for the Evil Queen costume, but I could not figure out how to make a leaf last year. I finally figured it out when I saw a leaf jewelry charm. Let’s do this!!

P1000377

Tools & Supplies
eos Lip Gloss
7 mm Jump Ring (with openings)
15 mm Lobster claw
Screw Eye – Everbilt #216 1/2 inch
Leaf Charm
2 Chain Nose Pliers or 1 Chain Nose and a Rounds Nose Pliers

P1000338

For larger claw key chain, use 9 mm jump ring and 30 mm lobster claw.

Instructions
Take the top part off the Eos lip gloss.

P1000345
Screw the screw eye into the o in Eos on top of the Eos lip gloss almost all the way, but not so much that it pops through the other side.

P1000354
Open up the jump ring using the two pliers that you have on hand. Here is a video on how to do it.

P1000356
Put the screw eye, lobster claw and leaf charm on the jump ring. Make sure the leaf faces upward and lays properly.
Close the jump ring with the two pliers.

You can now attach the lip gloss apple charm to your backpack, pencil case, wallet, and even use it as a charm on a necklace. This would also be an awesome gift for a teacher that loves DIY.

  13. How cute is this and what a fun DIY project! I have a friend this would be perfect for! The question is, do I make one for her and one for me? Or do I surprise her with this as a present? Perhaps I will make one for me and see if she comments. What do you think eh?
