Crockpot Hot Chocolate

I have two Fall crushes, one of them is chai tea, and the other is hot chocolate. There’s something abut the chilly temps that always make me crave those 2 things. So instead of having to indulge in one or the other, I decided to create a food hybrid (or should I say drink hybrid) that’s part chai tea part hot chocolate and a whole lot delicious. Enter this Crockpot Hot Chocolate with Chai that’s out of this world good.

But before diving into the nitty-gritty details of how to make it at home (hint: it’s super easy), can we please just talk for a second about how good it is? I mean this drink is almost too good to be true. We get the creamy and velvety hot chocolate, and then we get the spicy and hot kick of the chai. It’s fragrant and the scent that you get while it’s being cooked it’s delicious, better than any candle.

Besides, that is the fact that’s a total crowd favorite! Which makes it the perfect drink to whip up for gatherings and get-togethers. You can also pour it into a big thermos and just take it with you everywhere you plan to go this season, it’s the perfect comforting drink to have while apple picking or while visiting the pumpkin patch, and it’s also the best drink for the Christmas morning.

For me, the secret is using real chocolate chips and some strong brewed chai tea + more spices. And then just place everything into your slow cooker and wait for it to work its magic. It takes around 2 hours if you are using your slow cooker but if you prefer something faster you can also whip it up in a saucepan.

What are the best spices for sprinkling on hot chocolate?

If you love adding more spice to your hot chocolate, then keep a few spices on hand all year long. My favorite spices to put in hot chocolate are:

  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Ginger
  • Allspice

Some people also like adding a splash of vanilla, just for a bit more flavor!
