My daughter is heading back to school this week. I have mixed feeling about it. I am sad that I don’t get to spend all day with her, but I am also excited to get the house organized and back into the routine. I wanted to start making an extremely healthy recipe with Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Oats and lots of fruits and nuts. I made an incredible gluten-free rolled oats breakfast bowl, and I know you’ll love it as much as we did.

What are Rolled Oats?

Rolled oats are also called “old-fashioned” oats, or whole oats. They are called “rolled oats” because the oats are actually rolled flat. Yup! Steel cut oats are chopped up super fine and almost look like rice.

Rolled oats are a larger piece of oat and have a ton of fiber.

How do you make an allergy-friendly breakfast bowl?

Breakfast bowls are a super healthy start to your day. When you eat whole grains, you are adding fiber to your diet and this makes you feel fuller for longer. The nuts are a fantastic source of protein.

But if you suffer from nut allergies, just take out the nuts and eat a bowl filled with oatmeal and fruit. If you want some protein, add in some of your favorite yogurts.

Bonus! When you mix in yogurt, it turns into a delicious smoothie bowl!

I started the breakfast bowl with a base of Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Oats. They are extremely easy to make on the stove with the directions on the back of the package. I want to add oats to my family’s diet because Oats are rich in dietary fiber and can help reduce cholesterol. Bob’s Red Mill is extremely serious about keeping their products gluten-free. The Gluten Free Oats are sourced gluten free, packaged in Bob’s Red Mill’s 100% gluten free facility and tested every step of the way to ensure their gluten-free status. Also, All Bob’s Red Mill oats are kiln roasted to give them that wholesome flavor you come to expect from their oats.

Can you make it an overnight oats recipe?

I love the convenience of overnight oats. There are lots of recipes online for overnight oats. The basic idea is you put rolled oats in a small mason jar with yogurt and fruit and by morning you have a breakfast you can eat as you run out the door.

Here are my favorite overnight oats recipes:

What is the difference between rolled and steel cut oats?

You can also make this recipe with Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. The difference between rolled and steel cut oats is in the processing. Rolled oats are rolled flat to produce those flakes you know and love. Steel cut oats are chopped into several pieces for a chewier oatmeal.

Pro-Tip: Cut the recipe in half – or share!

This makes a ton! I wasn’t really able to eat the entire bowl by myself. You can also split this into several small mason jars and make some overnight oats from the ingredients.
