I'm Going to Pixar for the #PixarCOCOEvent

OMG, I am so excited to be going to Pixar Animation studio next week to screen 35 minutes of the Disney/Pixar Movie COCO. We will be interviewing Oscar Winner, Director Lee Unkrich, Writer and Co-Director Adrian Molina and Producer Darla K. Anderson about the new film. We will also be touring Pixar!! Eek!! I have been dying to see Pixar, and now I finally get to check it off my bucket list!!

We will also be experiencing The Music of COCO with Oscar Winner, Michael Giacchino (Composer), Germaine Franco (Orchestrator), Camilo Lara (Consultant) & Adrian Molina(Writer and Co-Director).

ASPIRING MUSICIAN — In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like the celebrated Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). But when he strums his idol’s guitar, he sets off a mysterious chain of events. Directed by Lee Unkrich, co-directed by Adrian Molina and produced by Darla K. Anderson, “Coco” opens in theaters Nov. 22, 2017.

Learn About COCO

Hear how the COCO production team was inspired by research and particular cultural traditions, and how they infused them into their fantastical story set on Día de los Muertos. Participants include Adrian Molina (Writer and Co-Director), Dean Kelly (Story Artist).

Bringin the Story to Life

The Land of the Living and The Land of the Dead

We are diving into how the worlds of both the living and the dead were created through both research and imagination. Participants include Harley Jessup (Production Designer), Danielle Feinberg (DP-Lighting), Chris Bernardi (Sets Supervisor).

NAME THAT TUNE – In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel’s love of music ultimately leads him to the Land of the Dead where he teams up with charming trickster Hector. “Coco” features an original score from Oscar®-winning composer Michael Giacchino, the original song “Remember Me” by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and additional songs co-written by Germaine Franco and co-director/screenwriter Adrian Molina. Also part of the team is musical consultant Camilo Lara of the music project Mexican Institute of Sound. In theaters on Nov. 22, 2017. © 2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

Bring Skeletons to Life

Learn how the skeletons in the Land of the Dead were imagined, designed, animated and clothed. Participants include Daniel Arriaga (Character Art Director), Gini Santos(Supervising Animator), Byron Bashforth (Character Shading Lead), Emron Grover (Simulation Technical Director).

FAMILY REUNION — In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) finds himself magically transported to the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead where he meets his late family members, who are determined to help him find his way home. Directed by Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), co-directed by Adrian Molina (story artist “Monsters University”) and produced by Darla K. Pepita and Dante – A Closer Look

In the Land of the Dead, Miguel and his faithful companion Dante encounter not only his ancestors but also their loyal guardian Pepita, a magical creature based on Mexican folk art. Hear about how they were designed and brought to life. Participants include Alonso Martinez (Character/Rigging Artist), Nick Rosario (Directing Animator), Christian Hoffman (Characters Supervisor).

Walt Disney Family Museum

We are touring the Walt Disney Family Museum! (www.waltdisney.org) We are doing a walk through of the “Deja View: The Art of Andreas Deja” exhibit (http://www.waltdisney.org/exhibitions/deja-view-art-andreas-deja). Andreas Deja was the Supervising Animator for “Scar” in THE LION KING, and we are touring this exhibit in honor of the film being released on Digital and Disney Movies Anywhere, 8/15 & Blu-ray, 8/29. We are also checking out the “Awaking Beauty: The Art of Eyvind Earle” exhibit.
