Hello everyone!

I’m Sahily from Prettyinpigment.com and I’m a South Florida beauty and fashion blogger. I have been passionate about makeup since my childhood when I used to put makeup on my grandmother. My skills improved through the years and I have been a freelance makeup artist for over 5 years. Pretty In Pigment is where I share my love for makeup with the world by sharing tips, tricks, tutorials, product reviews and inspirational makeup looks. One of my favorite things about blogging is trying out new products and voicing my thoughts about them, as well as tricks on how to use them best.

I have spent the last few weeks putting together my top beauty picks for summer 2013. Memorial Day weekend has just passed, which officially means that summer has arrived! It’s time to break out the floppy hats, suits, sunnies and your summer beauty essentials!

1. Dior Show Waterproof Mascara- $25
A great waterproof mascara is a must-have in your summer makeup bag. I really like Dior Show because it makes lashes long and full in one simple stroke. Need more drama? Add a few coats to create jaw dropping lashes that will not budge in the water. Dior Show Waterproof Mascara doesn’t flake off or cause eye irritation, which is why it’s my favorite waterproof mascara.

2. Nars Blush-Bronzer Duo- $41
Sun-kissed skin is all of the rage this summer with bronzed beauties making a splash in a pool near you. Save your skin from the harmful effects of the sun, and fake a tan with a few stokes of a brush. The Nars Blush-Bronzer dou is a go-to product in my personal makeup bag, as well as my makeup kit. Both products are buildable and leave a natural glow on almost every skin tone.

Tip: The key to applying bronzer like a pro is applying it on the places that the sun would hit your face the most such as your forehead, apples of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose.  Finish the look off with a bit of blush high on your cheeks for a radiant summer glow.

3. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Stained Gloss- $18
OCC, known for their potent lip tars has recently launched a new collection of lippies  just in time for fun in the sun. Inspired by stained glass windows and lighting gels, OCC stained glosses are lip glosses packed with a punch. These are not your typical gunky and gooey glosses that wear off at the first pucker of your pout. Stained glosses are ultra-pigmented lip glosses designed to stay in place through the hottest summer days.  There are 6 shades to choose from, but I personally recommend the popsicle pink/red shade “Jealous.” These new lip tars will be a summer staple in my makeup kit and I recommend adding at least one to your makeup bag.

4. Makeup Forever Aqua Liner- $ 23
During the summer I like to stick to the motto “less is more,” especially in my hot and humid neck of the woods. During the day I keep my eyes simple and defined with a MUFE Aqua liner waterproof eyeliner. I love these liners because they come in 13 different shades and will not budge or smear all day long.

Tip: Make a statement with blue/green peepers this season; try lining your eyes with MUFE “Sparkling Blue Green” or “Sparking Turquoise Blue” to add a fun pop of color to any look! Kick the look up a notch my creating a colorful retro cat-eye for your next beachside bonfire.

5. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer- $43
It’s no surprise that this tinted moisturizer has been awarded “Best Tinted Moisturizer” time and time again by countless popular magazines. As I mentioned before, during the summer I like to keep my makeup lighter. Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer offers sheer coverage to even out your skin tone and spf 20 to protect your skin from the sun. Worn alone this product leaves a soft healthy glow, but if you would like more coverage you can always layer on some foundation. I love to wear this product during the summer, but it’s definitely something you can use all year long. Remember, moisturizing your skin and protecting it from the sun are important factors in keeping your skin youthful and radiant for years to come.

And there you have it, Pretty in Pigment’s top summer beauty essentials! Thanks for reading and a special thank you to April for allowing me to guest blog on Aprilgolightly.com.

  1. What a great list. Thanks for the tips. I am always looking for a good tinted moisturizer… a little coverage PLUS the SPF is just what I need.
