Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau was one of the first wines that I ever remember taking note of in college. It is so interesting that Beaujolais Nouveau is the first taste of a new vintage. It is the first wine of the harvest and an indicator for the quality of that year’s vintage. I remember opening my first bottle in college and feeling that I was coming into adulthood. Now, during this time of year, I am always brought back to those fond memories of exploring great wine for the first time. I’m extremely excited to be sharing Georges Duboeuf’s fantastic wine with you and a Corn & Sweet Potato Tortilla Soup recipe that I made to go along with it.

The Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau is always released on the third Thursday of November, making it an annual tradition that also ushers in the start of the holiday season. The wine is fresh, fruity and festive! Vibrant bright red fruit is the signature flavor of Beaujolais Nouveau. You can enjoy like we do with friends, family and food.

Beaujolais Nouveau is bottled only 6-8 weeks after harvest. The wine is made every year using a technique called carbonic maceration producing a light-bodied vibrant and fruity wine with little to no tannin and high acidity. The wine is meant for immediate drinking and should be served chilled.

The 2016 Beaujolais Nouveau displays a shimmering carmine color. Fresh aromas of red and black fruits, strawberry jam with hints of peach on the nose. It is fresh, fruity and flavorful on the palate. Delicious finish. Best served slightly chilled.

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages 2016

The Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages 2016 pairs well with just about anything but is a great Tuesday night wine that shines next to burgers, pizza, grilled fish, and take out. The quality of Beaujolais at this price point is much higher than what you would get out of a French (or even California!) Pinot Noir.

Tasting Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages 2016

The wine’s bright red fruit, elegant and subtle tannins, lower alcohol, and high acidity make it an excellent wine for Pinot Noir drinkers who are looking to try something new. Best served with a light chill. 100% Gamay Noir from vineyards located throughout Beaujolais; a mixture of typical granite soils and some sandy sites – which helps to lift the aromatics. Beaujolais-Villages is a great entry-level wine for consumers who are new to Beaujolais
