This week I made my Sweet’N Low Mulled Wine as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #SweetNLowStars
I tried Mulled Wine for the first time over 10 years ago in the Czech Republic on a cold December day. It is the perfect drink for a cold fall or winter day! It is normally made with a ton of sugar, but today I made it with Sweet’N Low instead. I love making these guilt free drinks like the White Orange Sangria, Pumpkin Spice Fizz, and Cucumber Basil Daiquiri.

1 750-ml bottle red wine
10 packets of Sweet’N Low
1 cup apple cider
1 apple
4 clementines, 2 cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds to garnish
6 cinnamon sticks
2 tsp nutmeg
10 whole cloves
6 black peppercorns

Directions

Zest 2 of the clementines. I used my microplane to zest them. Love the kitchen utensil!  Cut 2 of them in half and shove the cloves into the clementines.

In a heavy saucepan or slow cooker, combine the wine, 10 Sweet’n Low packets, apple cider, zest, clementines with the cloves stuffed inside, nutmeg, 3 cinnamon sticks, 2 tsp nutmeg, 1 apple cut into 1 inch pieces, and 6 peppercorns.

Warm the beverage slowly over low heat without boiling and allow the flavors to come together for at least one hour.

Squeeze the clementines and strain before serving.

Mulled wine can be made 2 hours ahead. Cover and let stand at room temperature. Rewarm gently over medium-low heat before continuing.

Garnish with clementine rounds and cinnamon sticks.

  1. I love mulled wine, especially on a cold, gray day. It’s a great pick me up. I love getting rid of all the sugar by using SweetNLow as well.

  2. I’ve never tried mulled wine but it sounds yummy. I had no idea you could make your own. That pumpkin spice fizz and white orange sangria would definitely be on my list.
