This week I styled a Prom Fashion Show for Macy’s. I figured I’d share 6 must see prom trends and dresses that I styled for the fashion show.
I, April Golightly am wearing an JR Nites Embellished Illusion Mesh Cutout Gown. The Cutout slashes with mesh paneling reveal just enough on JR Nites’ sizzling gown, while sparkling jewels highlight all the right places. Amp up the glamour with a cat eye and a peachy pout! MAC added some lashes as well.
1. Ice Princess
The ice princess look is inspired by our favorite disney character, Elsa from Frozen. It is not like you are wearing a costume to prom, you are just taking inspiration from her. Elsa’s look is all about sparkles, sheer fabric, and blue ombre.
Betsy & Adam – Long Ice Princess Dress with Sheer front and open back – Cool blue: Betsy & Adam’s head-turning ballgown features a sweeping full skirt punctuated with an embellished bodice. An illusion panel and scoop-back design add sexy touches, too.
Check out the mini version of the Ice Princess dress. If you want to make it more fluffy, you can grab an extra fluff with a petticoat to go under the dress.
Xscape – Long Minty Ice Princess Dress with gold necklace – This dress is very romantic boho. A metallic foil print graces this show-stopping halter gown form Xscape. Add even more sparkle to your evening with gold-toned strappy heels and a clutch. This comes in cobalt blue with gold and also solid canary yellow – one of the hottest colors of the season.
This Xscape Popover Short Sleeve Dress looks amazing in blue. It’s modest and extremely flattering. Totally feminine with a pretty lace popover and a pleated chiffon skirt, Xscape’s brightly hued gown stands out all evening long. Mix in gold-toned accessories to maximize the impact! It also comes in guava (coral color) and blush (see below).
2. Sexy Red Prom Dresses
Red dresses are extremely sexy. There have been studies that show that men are actually more attracted to women wearing red. You have to google the red dress effect.
Vince Camuto -No need for a necklace with Vince Camuto’s dramatic halter gown-a perfectly chic option for your next formal affair. Also, the ruching in the stomach area helps hide imperfections.
Betsy & Adam’s red-hot gown boasts rhinestone trim at the bodice and a romantic draped back detail. The sexy slit reveals just enough leg for that va-va-voom moment!
3. Xtreme Embellishment
It is all about the over the top embellishment for prom. Iridescent crystals are so mesmerizing. You will be shimmering on the dance floor with these xtreme embellishments
Joanna Chen – Two chic pieces, one perfect look: Joanna Chen’s fashion-forward set pairs this cropped top with the high-waisted skirt for an undeniably bold ensemble. Iridescent jewels lend major glamour! The 2 piece look is available in black, teal, and yellow as well.

4. Blush Prom Dresses
Blush is the hottest color for spring. It can be seen everywhere from jackets to jeans, but it looks best on a prom dress.
Betsy & Adam with Sheer Stomach Area – Transparent trends took the runway by storm. See-through inserts are a must this spring according to New York Fashion Week. Cut-outs with sheer are so glamourous. Totally feminine with a pretty lace popover and a pleated chiffon skirt, Xscape’s brightly hued gown stands out all evening long. The Betsy & Adam is Strapless with Rosettes. As soon as it came down the runway, 10 girls ran for it on the racks! Belle of the ball: Betsy & Adam’s pretty gown looks the part with a floral embroidered skirt and a subtle sparkle of rhinestones. This creamy hue looks best with neutral extras and blushing cheeks!
5. Short & Fun Navy
Navy was all over the spring runway. It was featured on the runways of Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Chanel. Navy is the new black this spring. The color works as a neutral and you can even pair it with black! If you live in jeans and t-shirts and the the thought of wearing a gown sounds like the worst thing ever, then short dresses are for you. Also, if you want to accessorize, this is the perfect way to do it! Go for a cool embellished headpiece, over the top statement earrings or necklace.
