The Keto Diet
There are tons of success stories online about people who lost weight on Keto or after “going Keto.” My husband and I have found health and success with Keto. Before you start Keto, you should talk to your Doctor before starting any new diet and eating plan. We are not Physicians and cannot speak to what is best for your body.
What is Ketosis?
The Keto diet is named after Ketosis. So what is ketosis? According to WebMD, Ketosis is “When it doesn’t have enough carbohydrates from food for your cells to burn for energy, it burns fat instead. As part of this process, it makes ketones.”
Your liver turns fat into ketones (a type of acid) and sends them into your bloodstream. That is where muscles and other tissues use them for fuel. I learned a lot about the Keto Diet and started cooking these Keto Recipes from this book, “Why We Get Fat, And What to Do About It.”
Ketosis usually kicks in about 3 or 4 days after eating less than 50 grams of carbohydrates.
