Key West Packing Guide for the Weekend

I have spent years visiting Key West starting in my teens all the way to my mid-thirties. It is an amazing place to visit and I was super excited to show it to my husband for the first time this past weekend. I learned a few things while I was there this time and would love to share my experience with you so that you can pack with ease.

Toiletries
Shampoo
Conditioner
Leave- In Conditioner (this is my favorite one)
Hair Managing Spray – Invisible Control Spray is my fave. It will help you leave your hot styling tools at home. Braid your hair after using this and get a great wave or just leave your hair in braids the entire trip. It will keep you cool!
Q-Tips
Sunblock Spray
Sunblock Tinted for Face
Baby Powder – It is kind of a gross subject, but use the between your legs and under your breasts. It gets really hot and this will help.
Large and Small Bandaids
Deodorant
Tooth Brush
Tooth Paste
Wet Brush
Braid Hair Ties
Black Hair bands
2 Hats

Makeup
Colored Lipgloss
Tinted SPF light foundation
Face Powder
Concealer
Waterproof Mascara
Eye Makeup Remover

On the car ride down to key west, I wore high waisted shorts and a cropped top that did not leave any space in between. I wore my good hat as well so it would not get crushed. On the way, I French braided my hair into pigtails so that it would crimp.

Once we got into the room, I changed into my bathing suit and a kimono. In my bag, I put a romper to through over the bathing suit for lunch just in case we did not back to the room.

After laying on the beach and swimming in the pool a little bit, we walked to lunch.

The first evening, I wore a low cut dress. After walking all over town in a dress, I recommend skipping the dress and wearing either palazzo pants or a dressy pair of shorts. Feel free to wear flat sandals or comfortable wedge sandals.

The second day started with a walk to Blue Heaven. I wore my favorite new basic top – the Ann Taylor Boat Neck. I bought every color during their 50% sale. We also stopped by the Hemingway House right after breakfast.

Once we got back to the hotel, we changed into our bathing suit and floated in the pool to cool off. I wore a bathing suit with a cover-up dress.

After lunch by the pool, we went shopping. I overdressed a little because I was dying to wear this skirt. Again, I would recommend a pair of shorts to save your legs from chaffing. You can prevent it by using the baby powder you packed.

Here is an idea for a more comfortable night out look.

The third morning I wore shorts with a boat neck linen top. This is what I wore in the car ride back home.

  1. Nice post! I love Key West so much and am headed there again this year. I use Body Glide for sandals that rub or thighs when wearing dresses. You can buy it in travel sized sticks.
