The How to Embrace your Body Shape post was created as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars and o.b.® tampons. #OBelievers
I’ve never been one of those lucky gals who can eat endless amounts of carbs and dessert without consequences. The dress that I bought in the hopes of losing a few pounds still doesn’t fit. After I stopped breast feeding and noticed that my stomach did not contract the way I had read and heard that it would, I made a conscious decision to stop feeling ashamed of the extra pounds. I realized that I am more secure now than I have ever been in my life. It’s kinda crazy, especially in retrospect, but I always thought I was fat even when I was wearing a size 0, 2, 4, 6, 8. Now that I am teetering between a 12 and 14, I still have moments when I think I am fat, but that is only when I have week moments mostly related to hormonal changes related to my period. Most days, if I do my hair and makeup, I feel confident and fabulous.
The ways that I embrace my body shape is by doing research about it. I measure myself and determined what my new body shape is. It is still the same as it always was, but just with a 1 added in front of my former size. Even with the same body shape, I had to make some changes in my clothes. I prefer tunics now because of my stomach. Even if something that goes around my waist is more flattering on me, I think that tunics make me feel comfortable and confident. This jean dress looks fantastic with a tiny belt, but I prefer it without the belt because it does not cut into my stomach.
I play with angles in a full length mirror so that I can figure out how I look best on camera. Since I have such a big belly, side photos are not my angle. If there is a group of people being photographed, I never want to be on the end. This is funny because I always preferred being on the end when I was thinner.
The only reason why I want to loose weight now is for health reasons. I want to set a healthy example for my daughter and also live as long as I can for her. The way I look comes in last on my list of reasons for losing weight.
Every woman’s body is different. That’s why o.b.® tampons are designed to help stop leaks by expanding all-around to fit each unique shape. Fluid-Lock® grooves for locked-in leak protection and it is the only one with SilkTouch™ cover for ultimate comfort and protection. I love how small they are so that I can stick them in my bag without sacrificing precious space that could be used for my makeup. I wear o.b.® PRO COMFORT®Regular and it works great.
Embracing our body shape is a great way to make sure we feel comfortable and confident no matter what we are wearing or where we are! My favorite thing lately is plaid tunics and leggings. It’s just not quite cold enough for sweaters and I love something a little bit long sleeved and warmer but not too bulky!
I love that you have learned to embrace your body. Trust me I am right there with you when I didn’t lose the weight while breastfeeding. I’m like what is going on??? My daughter is 3 years old and I still haven’t lost the baby weight but I agree that we have to set an example for our daughters. Baby steps, baby steps.
Girl, you are absolutely gorgeous and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I am your polar opposite appearance wise and we should both have the confidence to wear whatever we want and feel fabulous doing it. I absolutely love the dress you are wearing–I have one just like it and it makes us both look fabulous!
Embracing your body no matter what shape is so important! What’s even more important is teaching your children the same thing. Thanks for posting your story. It’s very inspiring!
Pregnancy really does a number on your body!! I think it really takes a lot more like 3 to 4 years for your body to recover. This outfit looks great on you, and it sounds like you are doing weight loss for the right
reasons.
You are so beautiful! I just love your hair and it is making regret cutting mine shorter. I am a size 18 and I can’t wait to get to a 12!
These are such great tips! My body shape has always been about the same, but I’ve changed sizes. I haven’t done a lot of researching into my size/shape and what compliments it, but I plan on it now!
Really great suggestions. It is very important to feel happy to be in your own skin. Caring about yourself is the foundation of health and fitness. Our body is the only one we get so regardless of its shape, it is what it is.
April, since I have met you for the first time a few years ago, maybe you don’t remember, it was an event in Coral Gables at the Doper Doll I admired your style and confidence. Maybe you didn’t realize, but you are quite the inspiration for other bloggers, myself included. Never ever loose that attitude!
Way to embrace yourself! It can be so hard sometimes, but I am loving the confidence that you exude! What a great role model for other women! Thank you!
You look great! I have a similar dress that I was iffy about but after seeing you in yours, I am actually excited to wear it! Thank you!
The most effective are combinations of strength training (gym, crossfit and functional training) and cardio (running, cycling, rowing, ellipsoid). Some bodybuilders who want to speed up the process of building muscle use steroids.
