I feel like I have been burned in the past by health foods that proclaim to taste just as good as the original. That being said, I was curiously optimistic to try Garden Lites Muffins, even though it said it was made out of 1/3 veggies. To my surprise I loved it! Knowing that there is something out there that tastes good and is good for you like these muffins makes my job as a mom a whole lot easier. That’s because I have a confession to make, I have let my daughter eat cake for breakfast. What? Yes, I know, I hang my head in shame for buckling under the pressure of a screaming three-year old while also trying to get her ready for school. Cake for breakfast is a dangerous path, especially because those types of treats are not healthy for a growing kid!
The amazing thing about Garden Lites Muffins is that now I don’t really have to choose, because my daughter will gladly eat them, and the large amount of nutrients they provide! Garden Lites are 1/3 vegetable, and all their products have vegetables listed as the first ingredient.
Having Garden Lites around for those mornings when she’s cranky and just wants to eat something sweet will make our mornings a lot let stressful, which is great because who wants to start their day with a temper tantrum? What is also great about them is that they are gluten, dairy, and nut-free, which means it is a tasty way for those with allergies to get their veggies as well.
I was even able to trick my husband with them, but giving one to him without telling him that the primary ingredient is vegetables! He’s our resident picky eater (I believe that our daughter gets it from him) so if it passes his palate, I know that we are on the right track.\
I feel that we have a breakfast winner on hands for our family. I love the muffins, and so do my daughter and husband. We get our Garden Lites Muffins in our neighborhood Publix Greenwise, located right in the bread freezer section. However they are also available at a number of other locations, such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Giant, Shop-Rite, HEB, or Costco.
