Monochromatic dressing is the best way to create a slimming effect. Apparently, people have caught on to this as I have been seeing this monochromatic trend everywhere for spring and even fall 2013.
The easiest way to wear the trend is to wear all black or all white, but who wants easy! All white to me is awesome, but why not try all green or all red like I did last year. Emerald green is the Pantone’s color of the year so you will be looking thin and be completely on trend with a monochromatic green outfit.
The colors don’t need to be exactly the same shade for a great monochromatic outfit. In fact, I prefer when the colors are not the same shade.
I chose to dress Andrea in green skinny jeans from JCP (similar here from JCP as well), a cable knit top from the Gap, a peek a boo green bag from Bealls (similar transparent bag from Furla here), and brown sandals. I probably would have paired it with green flat sandals if I had a pair that fit Andrea.

The outfit is really cute, and the advice is great. I think I will try this out this summer – it is bright and fun.
Glad you like it. š Let me know how it goes.
Oh heck yeah, I’ll do it. I have never minded being all in one tone.
I never liked being in the same color from top to bottom but this outfit looks great
I would definitely love to try this out! I think I’d probably start with gray. I would love to pull off pink, but I don’t think I’m that brave.
Pink is tough. It would depend on body type and cut of the top and bottom. Although, I think you can do it!
how cute! You need to dress someone with some hips, short, in their early 40’s – you know someone like me. So I can figure out what to wear!
That is me minus a few years, but I have a curvy gal photo shoot coming up. š
I guess I already have been going monochromatic – I tend to wear a lot of all black.
I’m not sure. I’m a jean shorts and tank kinda girl.
It looks good on her. š
Looking super cute. I would have never thought to put them together, but they work!
I love wearing monochromatic and tone on tone outfits.
Love this look! It’s always so flattering.
Wow ~ I have never tried this look before but it is absolutely stunning ~ Andrea rocks it!
That’s a beautiful color and so vibrant!
She just needed green shoes! Cute outfit!
You look so beautiful dear ! I often go monochromatic š hope you’ll follow back soon via Gfc and Bloglovin š big kiss
I love the color green and this look is fabulous!
I love green too – and
The colors are beautiful. I love that they are all green but not the same shade. Very pretty.
Um no. I always mix and match colors never pairing two slightly different shades. Its just not my style but it may look good on someone else
You had me at slimming effect however I don’t think I’d be gutsy enough to try this look!
I’ve never really been into the monochromatic as I didn’t want to be even more boring than I am. I like this varying of shades though.
I had no idea monochromatic can create the slimming effect. I love the Pantone color of the year, so this entire outfit is very fresh and appealing in my eyes. The aqua goes so well with the grass green of the bag! Overall just a really nice color scheme to work with. Thanks for sharing the inspiration!
It looks really good on her!
I always feel weird when i try to match the same color in different shades LOL. I need to try again haha.
Love this look, especially with the green!
