This week my book club hosted a Mockingjay Party in honor of the final movie, Mockingjay – Part 2 being release in theaters next week. We watched the movie, had dinner and spent time reminicing about how much we love the Hunger Games series of books and movies. This is the second party that we’ve had in honor of the Hunger Games. The first one we actually did Hunger Games activities shooting arrows at the villains from the movies. This time we were more chill.

Going with the Hunger Games theme I made potato roses reminiscent of President Snow obsession with the flower. Here is the amazing recipe that I changed a tad bit from the one on Vegelicacy. I added paprika so that they would look a little more “bloody” like President Snow likes them. He is such a creepy villain.

President Snow Rose Potatoes

Ingredients 

• 6 potatoes
• 1/2 cup olive oil
• 2 tbsp Paprika
• 1 tbsp salt
• 1 tbsp garlic powder
• 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  

Instructions

Preheated oven  to 400F.

Wash and peel potatoes. Cut them into thin slices using a mandolin slicer.

In a mixing bowl bowl combine all the spices and oil. Mix well.

Mаke а row of 9-10 overlаping slices. Spoon the seasoning and oil mix over the row of potato slices. Start rolling with the slice that was laid down first. Make sure to hold tight. You are rolling the potato into a rose.

Place the rose roll up into a muffin cup, holding with one hand and adding more slices around it until the rose sits tight and don’t loose.

Top with more seasoning if you have it.

Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden-brown.

With The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 being the final installment of this classic series, fans don’t want to miss their favorite characters in their final epic fight. I am super excited to see the new movie and re-read the books again.

The Hunger Games is an iconic series of the films and books that I have loved since I read the first sentence of the first book. We are grabbing tickets to the Mockingjay – Part 2 opening weekend! Every time there is a new movie, the book club sees it together. ill it be a girl’s night out or something you see with your family?
