Who are your real life heroes? A hero is an ordinary person that’s capable of extraordinary things. It’s our mothers, sisters, friends, girlfriends, daughters, teachers, doctors, counselors and the women that inspire us everyday. Some one that gives us a well meaning smile or complement can be a hero to us for the day.

Girls often look up to their mothers and usually our moms are our best heroes. My mom is one of my real life heroes. My daughter is another hero that inspires me with her positivity and outlook everyday. Having a daughter is so lovely and wonderful. It has changed me for the better. It has made me more aware of how women are portrayed and treated. Women are treated badly far too often and only prized for their looks and are taught only to tear each other down in order build themselves up. They are taught to be careful and not to take risks. I let my daughter take risks. I want more for her.  My daughter inspires me everyday to be a better person so I can be one of her real life heroes.

Have you seen the beautiful images that Annie Leibovitz have brought to our world. In 1999, photographer Annie Leibovitz published Women, a book of portraits made in collaboration with Susan Sontag, accompanied by an exhibition at the Corocan Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Launched in London in January 2016, the UBS x Leibovitz collaboration continues to explore the changes in the roles of women today. The tour will travel to ten host cities over twelve months. Each venue will be selected based on its unique architectural context within the host city as well as its ability to attract both local and global attention.

Celebrate the amazing women around you and share your own heroes by submitting entries of your own everyday women heroes by uploading a portrait to Instagram, along with a caption of why you chose her as your hero, and tagging the hashtag #ShareYourHero and tag @USB when you do so!
