As the temperature decreases, I get extremely excited about breaking out my fall velvet wardrobe. I try to wear velvet in non-tradition ways. Here, I buttoned up my cropped velvet jacket and wore it as a shirt. It worked out well because I was able to tuck it into my high waisted maxi skirt and throw a wide belt over it to cinch my waist. Last year, I wore the jacket over a black turtleneck with polka dot shorts when I was in Barcelona. This little velvet jacket will be in my wardrobe for years to come as it can class up a pair of shorts and keep me warm over a cocktail dress or evening gown. I found this piece of thrift gold at Good Will just like Thrift and Shout. Velvet pieces can often be found at thrift stores as it is a fabric that time has forgotten that has been revived by the fall 2012 runways and of course Kim Kardasians green velvet dress. As you know, I have been a fan of velvet for quite some time. After all, I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.
