Wearing basics that are special, makes dressing so much fun. You don’t need a huge wardrobe to look stylish. If you find something you love, you can wear it tons of different ways. I was very into buying one off special pieces that were unforgettable, but that type of dressing can become impractical and really expensive. You can’t wear the same floral dress thirty times in a year because everyone will remember it and make comments. Trust me, I know!! I’ve even had oblivious make comment on the fact that I wore the same bright dress again. I loved that dress and got my wear out of it, but I have to say that will never happen with basics like jeans and nice white top. They are your palette and you can have your fun with the accessories, shoes and outerwear.

The Best Basics

This lace top is from QVC and I absolutely love it! White tops are my favorite because I take a ton of pictures and I find that white tops do not reflect any random colors onto my subject. Red and pink tops are the worst and always throw a reddish hue. White tops are the best staple pieces because everything looks good with them. Get this Isaac Mizrahi top here. I am wearing the lace top here with these amazing plaid pants. They are on sale too. Get them here

These skinny jeans are made by the Seven Jeans called Jen7 (get the jeans here) They are like legging jeans because they don’t have a button or zip fly. I am totally in love with them!! They are on sale right now for Black Friday in July on QVC.

Not So Basic Sandals

These wedge sandals from Sam Edelman are basics for me, but they are oh so special and on trend. The snake prints is so much fun and I love it! Get them here

White Lace Top and Statement Shoes

Statement Shoes

Wearing jeans and a white top is one of the best ways to let your statement shoes shine. I love this brand of shoes – it’s called Schutz. These super fun heels are really comfortable because of the block heel. They are still available!! Get them here before they sell out!

Slip On Sneakers

You can wear the lace top and skinny jeans casually with a pair of slip on sneakers (get the Sperry’s here as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale)  and if it’s cooler outside you can wear them with then with a long sweater. Have you felt these sweaters yet? They are from Barefoot Dreams and are very aptly names. They are the softest thing in the world and make wearing a sweater a pleasure. They are also on special right now for Black Friday in July.

Kimono

Spice up your basics with a fun kimono. Wearing kimonos is one of my new favorite things. It just adds a little more put-togetherness to an outfit. It’s a good way to hide your arms if you are feel self conscious or a way to keep warm if you are in a cold climate. For me, I like to wear kimonos because I am constantly in and out of freezing AC. I use the kimono to keep me warm when I am inside. It’s is especially great for traveling because you can also use it as a coverup. Get this one here – it comes in tons of awesome prints!

What is your favorite way to wear a basic white top like this lace one?
