Lately, I have been eyeing these elaborate crown braids with hair envy. I chopped my hair off several months ago because the ombre had fried the ends. This has made it very difficult to try any of these fun braid looks, but it has grown a little, and I gave it a try today regardless. It seems to have worked out quite well.
I love this hairstyle because I feel so fancy wearing a crown braid. This tutorial can be used for short and long hair alike. Suave Professionals® makes it easy to “Style It Yourself”, or “SIY”, with on-trend style products that work as well as a salon brand, and simple, three step-style instructions that are even on the back of packaging to help women achieve salon-quality styles quickly and easily at home. Follow these steps for a half up crown braid: First, I start by washing my hair and prepping it with a handful of Suave Professionals® Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Soufflé Mousse and a few spritzes of Suave Professionals® Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Weightless Blow Dry Spray. I skipped the blow dry as my hair naturally has a nice wave after using these products. You can blow dry your hair using your fingers and a diffuser to create waves. If this does not work, you can create them afterwards with a tapered wand. I section off my hair into three sections using rubber bands and a dividing comb. The front section is the bang area. Even if you don’t have bangs, you can pull this area into a pony off to the side so you can see. The next group of hair is the hair that would be under a wide headband. The last group of hair is the remainder that falls on your back. Untie the headband hair, you are going to French braid this section from behind your ear across your head. If you need help with French braiding, this tutorial and video helps. All the hair should be in the braid by the middle of your head. I did this braid with the hair flipped over because it felt more comfortable that way. Puff up the tail end of the braid by giving the hair a little tug outward to make the braid appear thicker. Secure the braid to the middle of the back of your head by the tail with a clip like this leather rose. If you have longer hair, you can wrap the braid so that it meets the beginning of where you started the braid.
Finish by smoothing down any flyaways with Suave Professionals® Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Plump Hold Hairspray and using the tapered curling wand to give the remainder of your hair waves if it is not already wavy. Use the wand to curl the front area so that the waves go away from your face. This is the most flattering method.
