We just moved into our new house and it is so nice to finally be out of our old place and just be done with renting and landlords! I have been so frustrated and overwhelmed lately by the contractor on our new home and the management company from our old place. People just try to take advantage at every turn. Being pregnant, moving and dealing with incompetence is just too much. My hubby and family have been my saviors through all these frustrations.
Yesterday, the contractor basically called me a liar when I reiterated what he had told me a few months ago. Luckily, my husband was there for the conversation so it wasn’t my pregnancy brain playing tricks on me. I just want the contractor to be done so I can never see him again! It is amazing to me that this incompetence exists. As a person with an economics degree, I believe that market forces will allow the best professionals to survive the recession. This was obviously not the case with this general contractor! I would become a GC before I hired him! Just add that to the laundry list of things I am: attorney, fashion blogger, soon-to-be-mother, wife and general contractor!
New house can be frustrating for sure!
We just had to have our tile removed in our masterbath after a year to fix a pipe!!
That is insane. We have the plumber coming tomorrow to fix the crap the contractor did wrong.
I have not purchased a house yet but I hope when it is all said and done it is worth it.
I’m starting to wonder if there’s anyone who hasn’t had some sort of contractor woes!
I’ve learned that when it comes to contractors you need to get everything in writing first, and both parties sign off on it. That way there is no room for back tracking on either side.
Yikes, sorry your contractor turned out to be a dud. I hope you can get through the rest of the process.
Ugh, if only people would do their jobs right.
Sorry you are having to deal with someone like that.
I am so sorry you are dealing with this.
That is frustrating. My husband would have gone off on him.
What a total jerk. Hugs.
Homes are a money pit…we moved into our new home February, and already our heater broke, stairs are breaking, we need to fix sooo many things, and wow, it’s nuts, but it’s still home and I totally LOVE IT! 🙂
I so hope things smooth out for you so you can FULLY enjoy your new place!
We’ve found some surprises since moving to our new home. The paint used to make the house a uniform color is not the best quality and the air vents/ducts are situated in such a lousy way that both heating and cooling air flow is not efficient throughout the home. There are other minor issues but not as obvious as those mentioned. I completely agree that it would be nice if those hired to do a job did a competent one.
Moving always sucks, but it’s even worse when you’re pregnant & already have enough on your plate. I hope the contractor is done soon!
it can be so hard to do this junk
It can only get better from here!
I’m sorry! I’m not looking forward to moving in the future.
Ugghhh…why can’t people just be honest and do their best job. Or admit when they can’t. Hopefully things will settle down and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and settling in.
My mom went through the same thing, the contractor would only deal with my dad. She was so frustrated, then told him to listen to her or they’d find someone else, he came around pretty quick 🙂
That sucks. We are in the process of buying a home, that scares me!
Unfortunately, that’s just how it is…either you find a great contractor, or they’re complete idiots! Our engineer disappeared on us after we paid him for our plans – I spent two years handling our permitting issues on my own, it was a nightmare!
I don’t plan on moving anytime soon, I really dislike the whole process.
We recently moved to a new house, but we’re still just renting. I know how stressful it can be since I’m pregnant, too.
So sorry you had to go through this. It can be sooo frustrating.
Moving is stressful, sorry you are dealing with problems
No, because I pretty much do it all myself.
Oh boy! You are making me not look forward to moving, and working on our new home!
