Prom Dresses for Hourglass Figures by April Golightly

This is a compensated post, but as always all opinions are 100% my own. 

I have an hour glass figure, but my weight has gone up and down over the year. I was originally a short petite hourglass and now I am a short full hour glass. Here, I am going over what is the best looks for women with hourglass figures that are short, medium, and tall with a wide variety of weight ranges from under 90 pounds to over 250 pounds.

Short Petite Hourglasses are 90 to 105 pounds from 4’9″ to 5’2″. Women that fall into this category should wear fitted sheaths with v-neck or sweetheart necklines. Try a wrap dress that reveals your hourglass figure. Hem dresses so that they hit just above the knee.

Short Medium Hourglasses are between 100 and 145 pounds from 4’9″ to 5’2″. Sheath dresses that hug your curves are a great choices. Hem dresses to knee length or above to show off your legs.

Short Full Hourglasses are 135 to 170 pounds and between 4’9″ and 5’2″. V-neck dress with 3/4 sleeves are the perfect dresses for this body type.

Short Plus Hourglasses are 155 to 225 pounds and between 4’9″ and 5’2″. Wide v-neck dresses with 3/4 sleeves in dark colors look best for the prom.

Average Slender Triangle Hourglasses are between 5’3″ and 5’7″  and 90 to 125 pounds. This body type looks best in sweetheart halter dresses.

Average Medium Hourglasses are between 5’3″ and 5’7″ weihting between 115 and 170 pounds. The best prom dress for this body type is off the shoulder with a hem just above the knee.

Average Full Hourglasses are between 5 foot 3 inches and 5 foot 7 inches weighing between 155 and 195 pounds. Women with this body type should look for v-neck, scoop or sweetheart necklines with thick straps and and corset lace up back. I don’t love this color combo, but there are tons of choices.

Average Plus Hourglasses are between 5’3″ and 5’7″ weighing over 180 pounds. Low v-necks and deep scoop neck dresses look great on this shape.

Tall Slender Hourglasses are 5’8″ or more weighing between 110 and 150 pounds. Halter top dresses with small straps or that crisscrosses look great on this shape.

Tall Medium Hourglasses are 5’8″ or more weighing between 135 and 190 pounds. A wide set halter looks great on this body shape.

Tall Full Hourglasses are 5’8″ or more weighing between 175 and 230 pounds. V-neck and these sleeves help broaden your shoulders to balance out your curves. Try this dress in a darker color.

Tall Plus Hourglasses are 5’8″ or more weighing over 205 pounds. The v-neck draws the eye to center of your body toward your cleavage. The half sleeves cover the largest part of the arm.
