Do you suffer from migraines like me? It is a pretty awful thing to deal with. Sometimes the headache that comes with migraine is only part of the problem. I have put together a list of tips for dealing with a migraine including a migraine kit. Did you know that nearly 36 million Americans suffer from migraine? There are several known triggers of migraine, such as changes in weather, lack of sleep, bright lights and stress that migraineurs should be aware of. Check out the tips that migraine sufferers can use to better manage your migraines.

Keep a routine

Stay on a routine that avoids your triggers. Try to eat your meals and snacks at about the same times during the day. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time everyday giving yourself enough time to sleep at night.

Drink Water

This probably goes without saying, but drinking water helps me with almost everything. Dehydration is usually the culprit for me when I feel a headache coming on and even when I feel like the coffee is not working. It is usually because I need to drink more water.

Exercise

I have noticed that exercising daily helps relieve migraine headaches. At the very least, do your best to get at least 20 minutes of exercise everyday.

Relieve Stress

I have noticed that if I take time to destress I am less likely to have headaches. This year I am focusing on appreciating the pampering I get. Instead of stressing about what I need to do next, I focus on what I am doing. It has made getting my hair and nails done a much more fun experience.

Keep a Record

It is important to keep a migraine journal to record your daily activities. This helps identify patterns in what preceded your migraine. This is a great place to make note of what potentially triggers your migraine. Avoiding these triggers may lessen the frequency and severity of your migraine. I know that even a glass of red wine can trigger my migraines. Also, several glasses of white wine will do the same. Also, funny enough marshmallows will also trigger the migraines.

Create a Migraine Kit

You can be ready for a migraine attack and minimize the pain with a Migraine Kit. In addition to your doctor-prescribed treatment, you can create a kit with large sunglasses, tissues, unscented sanitizing wipes or towels, and vomit bags.  I keep all this in my center console in my car just in case. The sunglasses  help with light sensitivity. The vomit bags, tissues and wipes are there just in case any nausea or vomiting occurs.

  1. Drinking water is so important! I know this is what causes my migraines due to the lack of water I drink! I will start a record of how many migraines I do get-especially when the doctor asks. Thanks for Sharing #HomeMattersParty

  2. That does really share, And one of my suggestion is to find a good mattress and pillow to relieve stress when you’re sleeping!
The good pillow will 100% relieve stress for you to relieve a migraine headache and fibromyalgia.

  3. Thanks for sharing! Also twice that Charlene said about the bedding – as you’ve mentioned stresses in your article, it’s important to remember that a lack of sleep might be a strong trigger for your migraines too. My headaches are usually preceded by a fairly ridiculous bout of insomnia, usually lasting a month or so.
This time, however, they were preceded by one night’s bad insomnia before the attacks hit.
About the kit, what helps me the best, it’s salty water.
