Practice Self-Care

You should clear your schedule and make self-care a top priority as a busy mom. There are plenty of activities you can do, you just need to make time for yourself. For example, maybe you can spend time getting lost in a good book or taking a warm bath. You may also be someone who likes to get busy in the kitchen and cook.

Consider curling up on the couch with a good movie and a glass of wine as well. It can be a fun idea to gift yourself some custom wine glasses to drink out of and enjoy. Celebrate the small wins and make sure you are always being kind to yourself.

Get Rest & Proper Sleep

If you are feeling sluggish and out of sorts it may be because you’re not getting enough rest and sleep. Give yourself a break as a busy mom by putting your feet up every so often to take a nap. Ideally, you should be getting at least seven to eight hours of sleep per night.

Configure your bedroom for optimal rest and invest in a comfortable mattress and bedding. Come up with a relaxing bedtime routine you can stick to instead of playing on your electronics right before bed.

It will also help if you are going to bed and waking up around the same time each day. You will feel like a new person when you get proper rest and sleep daily.

Ask for & Accept Help

You’re only one person and can only take on so much in one day. It’s a strength to reach out and ask for help every so often. For example, there may be items that your spouse or friends and family can lend a hand with.

All you have to do is get organized and speak up about what you need. Accept help from others without feeling bad or guilty. It will take some pressure off of you and give you more time in your day. If you try to take on too much at once you may become overwhelmed and feel stressed out most days.

Keep A Journal

Journaling is a great way to get what’s on your mind down on paper. It’s an opportunity to slow racing thoughts and problem-solve. It can be very useful to take some time to check in with yourself to see what’s on your mind. It may be beneficial to begin and end the day by writing in a journal.

You can also use a journal to reflect on what you are most grateful for in your life. Keep this list handy and review it often so you can keep a positive mindset. This will help you avoid negative thought patterns and focusing too much on what may be lacking or missing.

All it will require is setting aside some time each day to write down your thoughts and feelings and connect with yourself.

Spend Time in Nature

These days you may feel like you are always attached to technology. This can make you feel more anxious and like you can’t give your mind a break from thinking. Instead of scrolling on social media, use your free time to go out and be in nature.

It can be something as simple as making time to go for a walk or a hike. You may want to listen to guided meditations on your phone while you are outdoors in nature. You’ll come home feeling refreshed and like tackling your to-do list. Nature has a natural way of healing and can help you gather your thoughts.

You can now see that there are plenty of ways to give yourself a break as a busy mom. All you have to do is rearrange your priorities and schedule a bit.

Give these ideas a try and take note of how much better you feel. It won’t be long before you notice that you have more energy and can put a smile back on your face. Put aside the mom guilt and be happy that you are taking action to help make yourself and your well-being a top priority.
