I am putting together my hospital bag right now as the baby is coming very soon. According to my last ultra-sound at 35 weeks, my baby is 1 ounce shy of 8 pounds. That is amazing and I am sort of freaked out by how big she is. I am scheduled for a c-section because of her size on July 9. To keep my mind off of the c-section, I am packing my hospital bag with the use of my hospital bag checklist. When I say hospital bag, I mean hospital bags as I do not own a bag that will fit all of the things that I might need.

  1. Wow, no wonder you can’t fit it all in one bag. That’s a huge list! I packed two bags. One for me and one for Nick. My bag contained clothes for DH as well.

  2. You won’t need half of the stuff you packed. 🙂 But better to have and not need.
SN: the hospital will supply all the needs for the baby so you won’t need diapers and stuff. They use Huggies.

  3. Take a Boppy! You will need it after the c-section and it’s VERY helpful to have for nursing (I’ve had 2 c-sections). You’re going to be a great mom! Can’t wait to see her!

      • I had the My Breast Friend with my first son and I really didn’t like it. With my 2nd I had 2 boppies…1 upstairs and 1 down and took it to the hospital. It was the best thing I took to the hospital.

  4. You’re so organized and ready! Don’t worry about 8 pounds. Both of mine were over that size and I’m petite. I had NO issues with it at all!

  5. Bring a nail file or fingernail clippers too – my son’s nails were like witch’s nails and apparently they considering clipping nails a procedure (for real!!) so they wouldn’t do it and he kept scratching himself! Good luck!! How exciting!

  6. I never made a list and didn’t care about anything once I got to the hospital. I had two larger boys–8lbs9oz and 9lb6oz–no section, either. I hope everything goes very well for you!

  7. I hope everything goes perfectly! Definitely bring plenty of books/entertainment- while you’ll need lots of sleep {that you won’t get when the nurses wake you up every hour}, you’ll also probably get bored since they’ll likely keep you a few days. They’ll supply the diapers though, so don’t worry about packing 36 diapers!

  8. Your hospital bag looks much better than any of my bags! I would totally go with yours! I was always so motivated to get in, deliver and get out as fast as possible. My kids never settled down and slept for more than 5 minutes at a time until we got settled in our home. So I hated staying in the hospital for longer than absolutely necessary. That 24 hrs after baby was born was a nightmare to me each time.

Because of this, I never brought much to the Hospital, cause i knew I would be staying very long. But I think if I would have brought more entertainment and snacks that could have helped me feel a little more at ease.
