Holiday Gift Guide 2013 | Wearable Art Miami | Vividly Co.
Do you have a friend that always wants to be at the cutting edge of fashion or a relative that appreciates meaning behind a garment? I can think of several relatives and friends that fall into these categories that I will be getting a something from Vividly Co. this Christmas. I recently went to the Vividly Launch Party in Miami discovering their awesome concept! Ever piece of clothing in the Vividly store incorporates artwork by an emerging artist, textile designer, or art lover.
Artists submit any form of visual art – a painting, a photograph, a graphic or textile design. Vividly only charges $1 for each submission. The artist then shares the submission with family and friends so they can pre-order a piece which guarantees production and a 20% discount. The artist is paid 10% of the sales when purchases are made. The items will be available at minimum for 60 days. If they perform well, Vividly may keep them available for purchase for a longer period of time.
My top was designed by a Miami local, Elisa Rodriguez-Vila. She is an artist/illustrator born and raised in Miami who studied Fine Arts & Art History at Boston College.
All of the clothing is produced in limited quantities, so every purchaser knows they are getting a truly unique piece!
Vividly Co. uses digital textile printing to bring every gorgeous Vividly creation to life. Digital printing uses less industrial waste, water, and electricity than conventional printing, and eliminates by-production of waste dyes. They use water-based pigment inks on natural fiber textiles. No additional chemicals are used in printing or fabric preparation.
Vividly also only uses fabrics that are a pleasure to wear. That means a lot of silks, bamboos, and organic cottons. They don’t send an item out the door unless it’s passed their “is this yummy?” test. As you can tell, the drape and fit is amazing!
