I love going to dog parks with my baby, Harrison Ford. He loves getting outside to hunt lizards and smell everything. I love going to spend some quality time with him alone without my daughter as well. He gets all the attention like he used to before the baby was born. For these reasons and much more, dog parks are one of his favorite places and mines. We get to meet and interact with other dog and other dog owners.

He loves to play with the big dogs. The little dogs take advantage of him and the big dogs only sniff him. He has a girlfriend that we see when we walk named Nalla. She is a giant Rothweiler.

I am excited to support the 2016 Dream Dog Park Project with the help of Beneful. They have just launched its 2016 Dream Dog Park Project, which is an annual effort to help improve and build dog parks across the country. The goal is to provide financially and hands-on support to at least 12 dog parks in the U.S. This year, with GoFundMe is helping to reach this aim. Get details about Beneful Dream Dog Park Project.

There are many benefits that dog parks have for both dogs and humans. Both animals and people need to spend time outdoors. It also is extremely social to have animal lover interact.

Animal Benefits of Dog Parks

42 percent of dog owners take their dogs to the dog park several times a week or more, and one of the main advantages dog parks provide for both dogs and their owners are allowing the dog to get exercise.Nearly 80 percent (79%) of dog owners agree their local dog park provides a place for them to exercise and be healthy with their dogs. More than a third (37%) of dog owners say their dogs most enjoy the opportunity to exercise when they go to the dog park.

Dog Parks Aren’t Just for Dogs

Dog parks aren’t just for dogs. Two-thirds (66%) of dog owners agree they love their local dog park. Some of the most enjoyable parts of going to the dog park for owners are being surrounded by other dogs and like-minded dog lovers (23%) and meeting new people (21%).

Need for Improvement

While the majority of dog owners love their dog parks, they DO see a need for improvement. When asked to select up to three features that were their favorite and ones they would like to have at their local park, responses included:

Shaded areas (34%)
Drinking fountains (31%)
Water features for dogs to play in (28%)
Dog-safe turf (25%)
Better/more secure fencing (24%)
