Alright, so the holidays are done, the cheese board is finally empty, and you’re left wondering how on earth it’s already January. If you’re getting married in 2025, it’s time to pack away the festive vibes and dust off your wedding planner because your big day is getting closer. Yes, it’s time to get back to it, no more breaks! If you want to plan your dream wedding, then this needs to start right now!

So, planning a wedding is like juggling a million little details while trying not to lose your mind. But for the most part, January is the perfect time to get ahead of the chaos and start ticking off those must-dos. So, with all of that said, here’s how to kick off the year like the organised, glowing-to-be bride or groom you are.

Book That Dream Venue (ASAP)

For starters, your venue isn’t just a location; it’s the heart of your wedding. It sets the tone, frames your photos, and determines how many people you can invite to the party of the year. And yes, gorgeous wedding venues don’t wait around.

If you haven’t already, start making calls, scheduling tours, and securing your spot. It doesn’t matter what type of wedding venue you’re after, but basically, the more “glam” they are, the more likely they’ll be swooped up fast. So, locking in your venue early means you can stop dreaming and start planning. Now, this can’t be stressed enough, so yeah, you should try and get to it ASAP!

Assemble Your Vendor Dream Team

As you might already know, it’s the photographers, florists, and caterers that make the dream team for your wedding, and January is the time to claim them. The best ones are like concert tickets to your favourite band: they go fast, and if you’re not quick, you’ll be left with whatever’s left over.

Ideally, it helps to have someone in mind whose work you adore, so, in that case, just be sure to reach out now. Basically, they’ll appreciate the early booking, and you’ll appreciate not scrambling for a caterer in June when every menu starts looking the same.

It’s Time to Tame the Dreaded Guest List

Oh yes, this is definitely a major one! So, the guest list is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about, but it’s got to be done. Who makes the cut? Who gets left out? Who is going to ask if they can bring a plus-one even though they’re barely invited themselves?

Well, January is a great time to sort this out while the holiday glow (or guilt) is still fresh. It’s going to massively help to just go ahead and start with your VIPs: the people you love so much you’d consider moving your wedding date if they couldn’t come. Then, work your way down to the “maybe, but probably not” pile. And remember, it’s your day, it’s not a reunion for every distant cousin who shares your last name.

Have You Sent Your Save-the-Dates?

If your wedding is later in 2025, such as October for example, then save-the-dates are going to be the best way to ensure everyone knows when and where to show up. So, digital ones are eco-friendly and quick, but if you love the idea of something physical, there are plenty of gorgeous printed options to choose from.

It also helps to just start thinking about your design now (Canva offers free ones), and you’ll be ready to send them out before someone books a holiday on your big day.
