  1. I have gotten extra fussy over the past few years… after losing weight and realizing that I had a lot of clothes that never got worn even when they did fit.

  2. I have major buyers remorse … I think the mirrors in the dressing rooms are the carnival ones that make you look skinnier – but, alas, the mirrrors at home show the truth.

These really are great tips – I especially like the last one. I am guilty of buying something just because it is a good deal. I am going to have to remember to ask myself, “Would I buy this if it were full price.”

  3. Unless it’s a staple item (black dress pants, blazer, lbd, etc.) – I simply avoid remorse by only buying things on clearance. That way if I only wear it once, or not at all (and then I donate it), I haven’t spent a ton of money and don’t feel bad. Generally though when it comes to clothing I wear most everything I buy.

  4. If I don’t know 100% when I pick something up or try it on, then I put it back and go home to think about it. Never once have I gone back for that item the next day so I guess my technique works.

  6. I rarely get buyer’s remorse with clothing purchases, because I rarely buy anything, lol. I try on a lot of things, but I never like them when I see them on me.

  7. I definitely need a stylist. I get buyer’s remorse each and every time because I have no idea what looks good on me or even how to properly shop for myself.

  8. I think going through these questions is a great way to approach any kind of purchase, along with wardrobe, to prevent buyer’s remorse, or most likely in my case, ending up with something that you won’t even use (or wear). Being habituated to pick wisely could really save money, time, space, and leave you feeling more confident about what you actually like and enjoy. Thanks for sharing!

  9. I always bring my hubby with me. He will be honest and tell me what looks good. Whenever I have went against what he liked and went with what I thought was cute, I ended up hating it. When I go with what he likes I get tons of compliments.
