Going on a fun road trip is an essential part of a fun summer!  Sometimes sitting in the car can get boring and you will need things to help pass the time and keep both you and your children occupied. As you are about to hop into the car for a long summer trip, don’t forget these road trip essentials for adults and kids.

Download Audible

Since you are in for a long ride, pick out a few audio books to enjoy while you are driving. I have been using Audible for years to help me pass the time during long car rides. You can find almost any book that you are looking for on Audible and just download it to your iPhone, Android, Fire tablet, iPod, or any other mp3 player. Each narrator keeps you on your toes and makes you feel like you are living the story.

Some of my favorite choices from Audible are:

Games of Thrones read by Roy Dotrice (He has an amazing voice and wonderful character development).

Why Not Me? Written and read by Mindy Kaling.

Modern Romance: An Investigation: written and read by Aziz Ansari.

When I Stop Talking, You’ll Know I’m Dead: Useful Stories from a Persuasive Man: written and read by Jerry Weintraub.

Veronica Mars: An Original Mystery by Rob Thomas: The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line: Narrated by Kristen Bell.

Quality Snacks

Snacks are vital to prevent boredom and constant stopping on your road trip. Chops Beef Jerky is made from high-quality beef and is incredibly tender. This jerky is one of my go to road trip essentials because it is full of protein and is so tasty!

Games

Toys and games to play in the car are crucial for keeping kids entertained on road trips. I found this cool toy called Cube-tastic which is a modern twist on puzzle cube. You can download the Cube-tastic app and scan the real life cube, and then kids follow along with a customized step-by-step tutorial creating an engaged learning experience that is both high tech and sensory.

Emergency Tape

My Dad always kept strong tape around for moments when you need a quick fix. T-Rex Tape is a ferociously strong tape that can be used on brick, concrete, shingles, painted and non-painted wood, and vinyl siding,  The tape is made with heavy-duty knit cloth for long-lasting repairs or applications. It is all weather and Holds Stronger®* than standard duct tapes. Y0u can use it to fix almost anything, and you can even make shoes from it!

Water Bottles

Road trips and driving can make you dehydrated. Make sure you’re regularly drinking water. Save some serious cash by packing a palette of water before you leave.

Food Options

Eventually, you will need to stop to eat during your road trip. The best thing to do is to plan and know which places are guaranteed to make the whole family happy. No matter the time of the day, you know that IHOP will be open and ready to serve quality comfort food. You can always stop by IHOP to get everything from a hot-off-the griddle Buttermilk pancakes to a yummy crepe!
