Sitting is rumored to be slowly harming our bodies, and we need to get more active. Since our schedules are packed with meetings, children’s activities, and events, it can be hard to pencil in a run at the gym. - If you invest in a treadmill desk on Amazon (I personally love this treadmill desk, but the price is a bit steep), remember to dress for exercise! Even though you may be working, jeans or a skirt may feel uncomfortable as you walk. The right attire will keep you motivated and walking.
- Don’t rush into it. Start slow! You may want to spend your entire workday walking on the treadmill, but if you are not used to that level of activity your body will be sore. Set yourself up for success and work up to longer spurts of walking.

Treadmill Desks: The Investment
These treadmill desks (this is the one I have) may be more than you are willing to spend, but you can also make your own. Look for a used treadmill at a yard sale or on Craig’s List. You can then create your own with a wood shelf (long enough to stretch across your treadmill through the arm rests), screws, a bungee cord, and a drill.
When you drill in two screw eyes on each side of the wood shelf, you can use the bungee cord to secure it to the treadmill arms. With a little trial and error, you can get it to fit tightly.
