Start by collecting pinecones under pine trees in your area. If you do not have some in your neighborhood, stop by a local park and look for pine needles on trees. They are pretty simple to spot. We have about four that I know of in my neighborhood. I was able to find about 30 pinecones and filled up my basket twice. I am sure that neighborhoods with more pine trees and fewer palm trees will be filled with pinecones. I cannot wait to hear how many you are able to find for this Glitter Pinecone Craft. Let me know in the comments below.
Preparing Pinecones for Crafting
Before you bring the pinecones inside, put them in a bucket with water and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Soak for 30 minutes. Lay them out on butcher paper or newspaper letting them dry overnight. Place on foil on a baking sheet and bake at 250 degrees for several hours. Check on the pine cones frequently to make sure they don’t catch on fire. You can remove the pinecones as they open up. Let the pinecones cool for a couple of hours before you start using them for crafts.

Did you find that the glue remained tacky a day or more after you decorated them with glitter?
Have you “sealed” them with a spray after they dried?
Thank you!
