The Cricut is an awesome cutting machine that allows you to cut so many materials. I am sure you are wondering, What Can I Cut With a Cricut? Here is a list of all the materials you can cut with your Cricut.

You can cut paper, vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, fabric, wood, and leather with your Cricut Maker. It will level up your crafting and customization skills.

Paper

My Cricut cutting journey started with my daughter’s birthday party. I decorated the party table and made a photo booth with card stock using my Cricut Explore Air.  Since Cricut has a relationship with Disney, you can buy an inexpensive license to use the Cricut as a paper cutting machine for Disney Characters. For my daughter’s 3rd birthday, we had a Finding Dory theme. I was able to cut Dory and Nemo out of card stock. Here is more about the birthday Party decor.

Paper is a great place to start crafting with your Cricut since it is the least expensive of the materials.

Glitter Paper

You can also cut out glitter card stock with fine point blade for banners. I absolutely love a basic glitter banner with block letters. All you need is some glitter paper and your Cricut paper cutting machine. In the beginning, when I was a novice Cricut crafter, I used a tiny hole punch to make my banners. With the slice function in Cricut Design Space, you can cut your own holes. This streamlines things when it comes to party planning.

Stickers

You can also print and cut your own stickers using the Cricut. This is something new that I just discovered. I am super excited to print stickers and cut them out on my Cricut, This would make great gift bag stuffers for birthday parties. You can do something called kiss cut to make it so that the stickers stay on the sheet so you can peel off like a story bought sticker sheet.

Vinyl

My second project using the Cricut was Vinyl based. I started by adding Vinyl to a small canvas that I used for my daughter’s birthday party. You can stick vinyl on so many different surfaces. I decorated my door with removable vinyl here and I made this cute ornament with Sparkle Vinyl

There are so many different types of vinyls to choose from. The craft store has every color of the rainbow and tons of prints. You can get foil, holographic and so much more. The possibilities are endless what can be done with Cricut vinyl. We recently organized my kitchen pantry with black matte vinyl. The Cricut has helped my become much more organized in a stylish way.

Here are some of my favorite Vinyl:

Heat Transfer Vinyl

Once I was able to cut paper and vinyl, I moved on to making customized shirts with heat transfer vinyl. You can use heat transfer vinyl to make cute shirts like this back to school shirt that I made for my daughter. You can customize Christmas Shirts too. The shirt make is pretty endless and you can put it on other things like makeup bags or backpacks.

Fabric

You can also use the Cricut Maker to cut fabric and felt. You can make a ton of different projects using the Cricut Maker and the rotary blade. We just got the the rotary blade and are super excited about cutting material and making some fabric hair bows and some custom pillows. Also, felt crafts that I had to cut by hand like this snowflake garland will be so much easier to make with the Cricut.

Wood

The Cricut Maker is cuts thicker materials like wood with the knife blade. You can cut basswood and balsa wood using the Knife Blade in the Cricut Maker machine. Also, I have seen tutorials where people cut wood with their Cricut Air 2 using a deep cut blade by adjusting cutting pressure.

Leather

You can also cut materials like leather with the deep cut blade on the Cricut Maker. We have a leather purse project in the works right now. I made one successfully with faux leather. Then, I used heat transfer vinyl to add the foil apple to the purse.
