What are Sight Words?
This unicorn printable use sight words to build on early reading skills. What are sight words and why are they important? Here is the first sight word coloring sheet with the first set of Kindergarten sight words. We also love Scholastic Level A books, Level B, Level C, and Level D books or starting to get you child reading sight words with really easy sentences.
Sight words are words that you see so often that instead of sounding them out, they become memorized. Here are the sight words in this coloring sheet:
Sight Word Was & Has
The Sight Word Has and Was are hard to pronounce when you sound them out because the letter ‘a’ has two different sounds. That is why it is best to memorize sight words with repetition. You can show you child how to try out both sounds when they are trying to pronounce a word.
Sight Word Or
The sight word Or is one of the words that your Kindergartener needs to memorize. The sight word ‘or’ helps build a lot of sentences in a child’s early reading.
Sight Word If
The Sight Word If is a high frequency words that is a building block for a lot of sentence for early readers and writers. The word it can be sounded out easily, but children who memorize it with the help of coloring pages like these will be able to read more easily.
Sight Word Man & Ran
The Sight Words Ran and Man can be sounded out easily, but when they are memorized and can be read on sight, the reading moves so much quicker.
Sight Word Day
The Sight Word Day has the ending -ay which I have been working on with my daughter for quite some time. She has the word Day down now and we are moving into other words with the same ending like play and away. The word Day opens up a lot of other words.
