Saint Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and I am very excited to be celebrating it with my Irish daughter. We bought her the cutest St. Patty’s Day outfit with green ruffles. She is going to look adorable.

Green Beer Cake

Before the big St. Patty’s holiday, I wanted to make something fun. We probably are not going to have a party this year, but next year I think it would be fun to be festive and decorate in all green on St. Patrick’s Day. Love these little four leaf clover cut outs. I perfected the Green Beer Mug Cake recipe for the party next year. The green beer cake made with beer instead of water. I cannot believe how great it tasted. I am not a huge baker so this was a great surprise. You can find cute mugs like these HERE.

Ingredients

Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix in White
1 Beer (Sam Adams)
White FrostingNon-Stick Spray

Instructions

  1. Follow the directions on the Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix in White replacing the water with your beer of choice and adding green coloring to the mix. I used Sam Adams Beer.
  2. Pour food coloring in slowly to achieve the desired color. Stay away from pastel and go more for St. Patrick’s Day green.
  3. Bake the Cake as normal making sure not to overcook or brown too much.
  4. Let cake cool and put the cake into a food processor to break it up into fine pieces.
  5. Take broken up cake out of food processor and place into a large mixing bowl.
  6. Mix in a heaping tablespoon of white frosting. I used my hands, but I am sure you could use a spoon.
  7. Put the cake into a beer mug and use your hands to push out as much air as you can. Fill it to the top.
  8. Ice the top of the cake in the mug so it looks like foam.
  9. If you want to get really festive, you can serve with Four Leaf Clover sprinkles on top.
