Break out of the monotony of meat and veggies with this bunless burger bowl. It is packed with new and different flavors – from mustard, garlic, and onions. Skip the hamburger buns and instead make a bunless burger salad.

Serve this amazing gluten free meal with my Keto deviled eggs for the perfect low carb cookout meal.

The Perfect Bunless Burger Recipe

Sure, you can fry up a burger and just eat it without the bun. But after being on Keto for a while, that version gets really old.

So I set out to create a whole new way to enjoy a bunless burger. I wanted it to be packed with flavors that I relish eating and actually look forward to.

And I think I nailed it!

I got the idea from my many orders to Five Guys. They have an awesome option where you can get all there toppings in a bowl rather just a lettuce wrap. Most toppings are free so I usually go all out and make my burger bowl into a little keto salad. I get grilled onions, grilled peppers, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and grilled mushrooms.

How to Make the Best Low Carb Burger Bowl

I guess you could also call this a burger salad. There really is a lot of romaine lettuce in it! But even with all the lettuce, there isn’t a traditional salad dressing. So it stands out from all the other salads I’ve made before.

Making it is a cinch. If you can throw together a salad or make a homemade hamburger, you can make this too. It’s perfect for either lunch or dinner or even a cookout with friends.

The entire recipe is at the bottom of the post in the printable recipe card. Before we get there, I have some tips that’ll help you out!

Keto Burger Ingredients

These ingredients will look familiar. They are all that you need for your favorite hamburger! While you are making your family some burgers, save these ingredients for your bunless burger bowl.

  • Ground beef
  • Coconut Aminos
  • Avocado Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic or Garlic Powder
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Yellow Onion (caramelized)
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • No Sugar Ketchup
  • Yellow Mustard
  • Pickles (sliced)

No Sugar Ketchup

Now, you don’t have to make your own ketchup anymore because Heinz came out with a no sugar added option that tastes great. It only has one carb! Get it here on amazon

Bunless Burger Bowl Directions

Making this burger bowl could not be any easier. Here’s how I made them. You can find even more details in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Marinate the ground beef. This is important, it’s what gives the beef all the flavor.
  2. Make some burger patties out of the burger and marinade.
  3. Heat the avocado oil in a pan.
  4. When hot, add the onions and saute.
  5. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  6. Turn up the heat to medium-high heat.
  7. Once the pan is hot, add the burger patties.
  8. Cook the burger based on preference. I like my burgers medium. You can tell the doneness of the burger based on the finger test. Check it out here.

What are some Keto toppings for a Bunless Burger Bowl?

For toppings, I use yellow mustard, no sugar ketchup, grape tomatoes, and sliced pickles. Season with salt and pepper. You can also use cheese and grilled peppers too. If you can eat cheese, try adding shredded cheddar cheese on top.

How to Find Keto ketchup

To keep this recipe Keto-friendly and maintain ketosis, you need to find some no sugar ketchup. You can find this at the grocery store. It isn’t easy to find, so you have to look closely at the labels.

But if you want to make your own, it’s super easy!

All you need to do is combine tomato paste, vinegar, and a bunch of spices. Wholesum Yum has my favorite recipe. I haven’t tasted anything quite as delicious as this one!
