Day Off Makeup Look

I am very impressed by Hayden Pantierre’s All Day Beauty videos with Neutrogena. I chose the day off look because technically the day I described is a day off from work. As a new mom, I never really have a day off, but this is the closest thing I get to it.

My Healthy Home & Makeup Bag

I was always a fan of a clean house free of harsh chemicals, but now that I have a little one crawling all over the house, the importance of using safe products is priority number one. It can be very expensive to choose healthy options, but Walgreens has come out with a new line of products that makes it easy to keep my home clean without having to use harmful chemicals.

I started by cleaning out makeup bag and my makeup brushes using the Walgreens Ology Castile Soap. The soap is a gentle cleanser producing a mild, creamy lather making it safe for sensitive skin and expensive makeup brushes. It has no harmful chemicals like Sulfate, paraben and petrochemical and the product is not tested on animals. It is only $10.49 for 32 ounces. That is a whole lot of brush cleanings!

Steps for cleaning Makeup Brushes from your Makeup Bag:

  1. Pour 1 capful of Walgreens Ology Castile Soap into a small bowl of water. Swirl the brush in the soap and water mixture, being careful to only get the bristles wet.
  2. Gently massage the bristles between your fingers, starting at the base and working to the tip of the brush until it looks like no more makeup is coming off of the brush.
  3. If the brush is really dirty, you can make the liquid more concentrated by adding another capful of castile soap.
  4. Next, press the brushes against a paper towel to dry and and reshape the brush between your fingers.
  5. Lay brushes flat on a paper towel to dry. Always lay your brushes flat to avoid water getting into the handle and ferrule which can cause rust or deterioration of the brush.

Plus, Walgreens Ology does not use artificial dyes or fragrances.

How to Get a Facial in Your Home

How to Get a Facial in Your Home

This post was written in affiliation with Harrods. As always, all opinions are 100% my own. I adore my Clarisonic and Harrods is an awesome store that I am super excited to work with.

Facials with a professional are awesome and a necessary evil for me because I have acne prone skin. I have been going to the same woman since my pregnancy acne outbreak. She is the first person to use the Clarisonic on me. Sometimes I do not have time or money to go to get a professional facial. For just such an occasion, I invested in a Clarisonic of my own.

DIY Card Coasters by April Erhard Editor in Chief of April Golightly

I love sending and receiving cards from my friends and family. I save all the cool cards that I receive during the holidays. The prints on the backs of the flat cards from  Tiny Prints are so cool I could not bare to just toss them in the trash. That is how I came up with this DIY Card Coaster idea.

Packing might not seems that important to gift giving, but trust me it makes an impression. I recently bought myself a pair of designer sunglasses and the packing that it came made me smile. I haven’t even worn the glasses yet, but I know they are waiting for me in pretty wrapping. It makes me giddy with excitement to think about it.

Mother of Dragons Costume

Daenerys Targaryen is the coolest character on The Game of Thrones. To start with she has a ton of cool nicknames, including: The Mother of Dragons; Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen; The Unburnt; Daene; Khaleesi; and Queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. She is a rich character both in the books and on the show Game of Thrones. She frees slaves, bathes in fire, and gave “birth” to dragons. As a new mom, I wanted to wear a costume for mother and child. The first costume that came to mind was Daenerys and her dragons. Since she is such a strong female figure, I thought this would be a great start for dressing up with my daughter for many Halloweens to come.

DIY Nursery Letters

DIY Nursery Letters created by April Erhard of April Golightly

We received a sample of Lullaby Paint for review purposes only. All opinions are our own.

I wanted my daughter’s bedroom to have a customized feel, but did not want to spend a fortune buying letters. I have seen them cost from $10 to $60 a piece. Making them custom from the craft store is much cheaper. Since Camilla’s name is so long, there was no way I was going to spend even $10 a piece. I spent less than $2 per letter for this DIY project, and I have craft supplies left over to do other projects.

Pet Scarf DIY

Every time my puppy, Harrison Ford goes to the groomer her comes back with a cute scarf. Since I have been doing his grooming lately, I decided to make a pet scarf DIY. For my baby shower, I bought a pink polka dot fabric quarter from Joann Fabric. I know he is boy puppy, but boys can wear pink too! He looks very manly in his pink polka dot scarf! We made him a camo printed one that he has been wearing non-stop as well. I cannot wait to match the babies outfits to Harrison’s bandanas. The ability to buy fabric in quarters makes it really easy to make a ton of these pet bandanas.
