Fashion for a Cause Runway

Fashion for a Cause Runway

A few weeks ago, I walked the runway at Bloomingdale’s for Fashion for a Cause. Can you believe it? Barely out the hospital from giving birth to my little Cami and right after, I am hitting the runway with real models and awesome fellow Miami Fashion Bloggers!  It was so much fun walking the runway, but I think the most fun part of the event is getting to hang out with the bloggers. I love meeting friendly bloggers. I’ve already gotten to hang with the bloggers several times after the event! How lucky am I? Stay tuned for more photos!

Uncomplicate with Pure Jill #JJillInspiredStyle

Uncomplicate with Pure Jill #JJillInspiredStyle

Thank you to J.Jill and The Motherhood for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

It is time to uncomplicate your life and spend time on what is really important like your friends and family. Who wants to spend hours planning what you are going to wear everyday? As a new mom, I barely have time to take a shower let alone spend hours in my closet trying to put something fashionable together. J.Jill’s new philosophy is to uncomplicate. Trust J.Jill to take care of what you wear so you can focus on the things in life that are most important to you. You can see this principle guiding the clothes, website, and the stores.

Leopard Faux Wrap Dress

A few weeks ago, I was getting very frustrated with my closet as there was really nothing in there that fit me. There were a few things, but most of the items were not breast feeding friendly. I felt hopeless and very frustrated. As a new mom, I don’t want to spend a ton of money on clothing that I am going to be wearing for such a short time. I definitely plan to be back in my old clothes very soon. How I miss wearing the clothes in my closet! Instead of crying about my body, which I was nearly doing, I decided to add an extra $100 to my clothing budget and try to get as many breast feeding friendly items for that amount as I could find. I started at Sears and found everything that I needed! It was really awesome! This leopard dress is one of the items that I found.

Emilio Pucci

Emilio Pucci was born in 1914 into one of Florence’s oldest noble families. How cool is it that he went from being noble to inventing these awesome prints? The first clothes Pucci designed were for the Reed College skiing team.[3] But his designs came to wider attention in 1947, when he designed ski-wear for a female friend was photographed by Toni Frissell, a photographer working for Harper’s Bazaar. Before the war, Pucci’s sleek designs caused a sensation, and he received several offers from American manufacturers to produce them.[1]

Orange is the New Black…Blazer

Orange is the New Black Blazer

When you think fall, normally the first color that comes to mind is black. Get black out of your head and start thinking, Orange is the New Black! Black blazers have been in style for a while now and yours is probably worn out from wearing it too much. Instead of choosing a black blazer, opt for an orange blazer instead. As you can see, orange works with several colors including navy, white, and yellow. I would also suggest pairing it with khaki, slate gray, jeans, almost any blue, and camo print. Camo print is huge for fall, and you will be a trendista in camo jeans and an orange blazer. I recently wore a fall transition outfit comprised of an orange halter turtleneck dress with a camo bag. It was complimented to the hilt.

Spicy Fall Color: Paprika

Fall Outfit of the Day with Camo and Fall Color Paprika styled by April Erhard, Editor in Chief of April Golightly

After reading InStyle’s Color Crash Course in the October 2013 issue, I was dying to put together paprika outfits. InStyle’s editor pointed out that orange is an attention getting color. You should expect to be noticed in paprika. When everyone is wearing neutrals and black this fall, stand out with a spice of paprika. I found this Michael Kors dress at Encore Plus in Boca Raton, Florida. Encore Plus was nice enough to let me borrow it to wear to Tastemakers this week. The paprika and camo combination was a big hit at Tastemakers. This Michael Kors dress is perfect for fall in Florida and fall transition outfits. Hit up Encore Plus to see if it is still available. I just dropped it off today so it might still be there!

Outfit for Brunch at First Watch

First Watch is an amazing breakfast spot that I frequent. I recently tried their new fall menu and wrote a review about it on my new food blog, Palm to Park. The Floridan French Toast is my favorite! It is a sourdough French toast with wheat germ and powdered cinnamon sugar, covered with fresh banana, kiwi and berries. Doesn’t that sound amazing?! Brunch is one of my favorite meals, and I adore dressing up for it. The best part of brunch is getting to wear a day time dress. Day time dresses are truly my first loves in fashion. When I first came to Miami, I had no idea what to wear to clubs. I actually wore a Sunday Brunch dress to a hot club on Lincoln Road. The dress was made of a white textured fabric. I wore it with a light pink snake belt and matching pink sandals. It was a very Lilly Pulitzer look. My good friend from law school never lets me forget about my Sunday Brunch Club outfit and brings it up often. His wife is probably reading this and knows exactly what I am talking about. I love them both even though they poke fun at me more often than not. 😉

Noelle Bathing Suits

My friends and family were recently strolling along the indoor flea market in Coral Spring, Florida when I saw an awesome bathing suit on a mannequin. The Resa accentuates the waist making it look like you are wearing a belt! As soon as I have a waist to accentuate, I am getting one! I was shocked that there was something so high fashion at this event. The designer of Noelle bathing suits recently moved to the area and was getting rid of her sample bathing suits.

Back to School Trends From Megan & Liz Concert

Last weekend, I went to Megan & Liz concert at Macy’s in Coral Springs. The show was a blast and I felt like I knew Megan & Liz after watching them put on them show and interact with their fans. They are great girls. It is not surprising that the American Rag Cie has made them the face of their brand. While I was at the show, I notice a few back to school trends that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe. I wore some on trend looks to the concert, but the girls at the concert opened my eyes to wearing them in new ways.

Back to School Cool Trends

Here, I am with Megan & Liz. I am wearing all black except for my camo pumps in the hopes of minimizing my recent postpartum body! The three of us are all rocking the layered look with vests and shirts. Yay! 2 trends down! Layering and Camo print! I love Liz’s boots and Megan’s jean vest! Everything that they are wearing is from American Rag Cie.

Black & White Outfits

Black & white outfits are so easy to put together that I often forget about them. Everyone has black and white pieces in their wardrobe that will make being in style this fall pretty easy.  I chose gray accessories because it is a little more unexpected than basic black accessories. If you do not own gray shoes, black would great with this as well. I love gray shoes as they work with more colors than black, like navy, orange, and yellow.

Fall Trend Quilted Skirts

This is the start of my shopping for fall. I found an amazing quilted skirt at Nordstrom that is completely on trend and totally wearable. I am working on getting thinner after having my baby so I need some clothing for my transition period. I adore this Quilted Front Ponte Knit Pencil Skirt by Halogen because of the side panels that creates a slimming effect and also the fabric is stretch and comfortable. I took a cue from the Fall Ready to Wear Runways in purchasing this versatile black skirt. Quilted skirts were found on the Fall 2013 Ready to Wear Runway of: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rebecca Taylor, Michael Kors, See by Chloe, and Rag & Bone.
