Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream

My daughter and husband are always buying and eating ice cream. I decided to take control of this awful situation and start making healthy ice cream that tastes good. After trying a bunch of healthy ice cream recipes and being unhappy with the proportions and taste, I decided to make my own!

The ingredients that make this ice cream delicious and nutritious are the cocoa powder, frozen ripened bananas, peanut butter, and coconut milk and vanilla extract. All of them have amazing health benefits!

Benefits of Cocoa Powder

Let’s start with the shockingly healthy ingredient the cocoa powder. The three tablespoons of cocoa powder in this ice cream only contain 36 calories, 2.1 grams of fat, and 5.4 grams of fiber.

Cocoa is said to have antidepressant benefits and is high in flavonoid antioxidants. I am not sure if you have heard this or not, but antioxidants are supposed to fight cancer, heart disease, and aging!!!

Benefits of Eating Bananas

Bananas are an incredibly important fruit that promotes health. They are the perfect base for this healthy and delicious ice cream recipe. They are naturally free of fat, cholesterol, and sodium, but they are packed with nutrients like B6, Vitamin C, Manganese, Potassium, Dietary Fiber, Protein, Magnesium, Folate, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin A, and Iron. It is said that eating bananas may help reduce exercise-related muscle cramps and soreness. Bananas may improve digestive health because of the insoluble fiber.

Since bananas are high in potassium and low in sodium, the fruit is officially recognized by the FDA as being able to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke.

There is much more to bananas that you would believe. I am shocked by all the benefits and will be incorporating them into my diet every single day from now on.

Benefits of Eating Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is another unusual ingredient that I added to this healthy chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Eating peanut butter can help you stay fuller longer so that you don’t get cravings.

Even though the back of the peanut butter package might scare you with the fat content, don’t worry the fat in peanut butter is considered healthy fat also known as heart-healthy monounsaturated fat. Eating peanut butter can prevent all kinds of diseases.

Studies have found peanuts lowered the risk of cardiovascular and coronary heart disease and may reduce colon cancer in women. Also, studies show those getting niacin from foods were 70 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease. Peanuts are one of the foods highest in niacin.

Did you know that eating peanuts can reduce the risk of diabetes according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association? Peanut butter is said to help avoid other health concerns like high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

Benefits of Eating Coconut Milk

Although coconut milk has gotten a bad reputation, the health benefits seem to be undeniable, and I love incorporating the flavor and allowances into my diet. Coconut milk is said to help lower cholesterol and is filled with vitamins and nutrients such has manganese.

*** I am not a doctor and cannot say that any of these health benefits are real. I have done some research and it seems that these are the health benefits, but I cannot be certain.

  2. Thanks for the yummy sounding ice cream recipe! Please note that while bananas do provide some good nutrition, they are fairly high in sugar and carbohydrate content, and are not low glycemic.
