Mango Margarita Recipe

Make this yummy Margarita to celebrate Cinco de Mayo or just have a Mexican fiesta.

We have a mango tree in our yard so we always have an abundance of mangos. This year I am determined to make complete use of them and share all the rest with my friends and neighbors.

Based on research our mango tree is a Carrie Mango tree. It fruits early in the season and the mangos are green and then turn yellow. It is actually native to Florida and first fruited in 1940 in Boynton Beach, Florida.

It is best to pick the Carrie Mangos when they are mature, but not ripe. You want to catch them before they fall the ground to prevent animals and bugs from getting to them. Plus, if they fall, you don’t know how long they have been sitting there getting cooked in the sun.

We pick them when they are plump and have smooth skin. You should also pick when they are turning yellow and when they have sap pouring down the sides. Also, sometime you can tell they are ripe when the stem is brown or browning.
