I love muffins. Like, I seriously deeply love muffins. They are easy to whip up, freezer friendly, are the best on the go breakfast ever, you can have them as a snack, and can even pack them for a nice “dessert” after lunch, and let me tell you, these Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins are my favorite muffin recipe so far.
I actually make muffins around once every two weeks and make sure I’m whipping up a large batch that lasts me through a couple of days, While I have made a ton of different flavor combinations there’s nothing like these chocolate chip banana muffins. They are a classic, they taste really similar to banana bread, and they are just mind-blowing delicious.

They are really (read REALLY) moist and fluffy, and they are jam-packed with chocolate chips. I’m one of those persons that believe that when it comes to chocolate chips more is always better.
Should I Use Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate in Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins?
Milk chocolate is solid chocolate made with milk added in the form of milk powder, liquid milk, or condensed milk.
Dark chocolate is a form of chocolate which contains a higher percentage of cocoa solids and cocoa butter than milk chocolate, and little to no dairy product. (Source)
I prefer to use the dark chocolate ones since in my opinion the flavor combo of the banana + dark chocolate is almost too good to be true. But if you are more of a milk chocolate chips kind of person then those work as well.
The recipe is as straightforward as it gets the only thing that you should focus on is the bananas. Pick the ripest ones you can find. That’s why I love this recipe so much! I usually make it when I find myself with a couple of bananas that are about to go bad.
Ripe bananas are the sweetest (in a natural non-processed way) which makes the muffins taste a million times better.
You can serve them warm straight out of the oven with a spread of butter or a drizzle of chocolate syrup, or eat them as is; they are already pretty flavorful and so delicious on their own.

TOOLS AND SUPPLIES TO MAKE Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
For these chocolate chip banana muffins, I used a large bowl (this is my fave) with a masher for the bananas. You’ll also need a good spatula to fold in some of the ingredients. I like to us paper-filling cups for easy clean up in these muffin tins. Remove from the oven with silicone baking mitts, serve, and enjoy!
