Oreo Ice Cream Recipe

We have both dairy and non-dairy ingredients and instructions on how to make homemade Oreo ice cream.

I am seriously obsessed with making Ice Cream. Normally, I make dairy free ice cream in my food processor with frozen bananas. Now, that I have a new ice cream maker, I am taking it up a notch with the consistency!

You can make dairy free ice cream like this Strawberry Ice Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, and Mango Ice Cream.

Everyone in the house is in love with this Oreo Ice Cream. I know you can get store bought Oreo Ice Cream at the grocery store already made. We had a package of Oreos in the pantry and I decided to give it a try.

You can make this ice cream with your kids. It is super easy and become a little math lesson with measuring the ingredients.

You can also choose your ingredients like if you are dairy free like me, you can choose to use coconut milk instead of heavy cream and milk. This recipe has both dairy and non-dairy instructions.

Non-Dairy Ingredients

  • Coconut Milk (Full Fat Canned)
  • Liquid Stevia
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Monk Fruit
  • Oreos

Did you know that Oreos are dairy free and vegan? I had no ideas, but I did some online digging and they are not made with dairy.

However, they do have carbs and sugar. If you are looking for a low carb alternative, check out these Keto Sandwich Cookies.

Sweetener NOTE

You can make this ice recipe with sugar or granulated sweetener instead of liquid sweetener.

If you only have a granulated sweetener, you will need to mix the ingredients with hand mixer or stand mixer with the liquid ingredients.

Tools and Supplies

Ice Cream Maker – We have the Cuisinart Fruit Scoop Frozen Dessert Maker. It has 2 different paddles allowing you to make fruit based desserts as well as milk based desserts like this recipe.

Freeze the Bowl

Start by putting the ice cream machine base into the freezer.

According to the instructions for the ice cream machine, the base should be cleaned thorougly before freezing.

Put the frozen at the back of the freezer standing straight up.

The freezing time is between 16 and 24 hours.

How to Make Dairy Oreo Ice Cream?

Start by using a hand mixer or stand mixer on slow speed, mix the sugar, salt, and milk until the sugar is dissolved.

Then, stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. This is a vanilla ice cream base to add crushed oreos.

The only real difference with the coconut milk.

Start by using a hand mixer or stand mixer on slow speed, mix the sugar or sweetener, salt, and coconut milk until the sugar/sweetener is dissolved.

Then, stir in the vanilla extract.

How to Churn Ice Cream?

Once the base is frozen, add it to the ice cream maker with the regular paddle.

Start the ice cream machine. Then, add the milk mixture into the ice cream maker.

Allow the ice cream to churn for 20 minutes. You can set the time for 20 minutes.

Then, add 6 broken up Oreos into the mix. Don’t stop the churning. I broke them up into 4 pieces. Then, let the ice cream churn for 2 minutes more.

Remove the ice cream from the ice cream maker using a spoon and adding it to a shallow glass pyrex or tubberware.

Cover plastic wrap directly to the ice cream and then cover again with the container top.

You can enjoy the Oreo ice cream. It will come out with a soft serve consistency. You can also put it in the freezer to help it get harder.

Sprinkle broken up Oreos on top of the ice cream.
